Tang briefed the attendees on the rule of law in China in his speech. He said the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has included comprehensively implementing the rule of law into China's "four-pronged comprehensive strategy" since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, the system of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics has constantly been improved, and solid progress has been made in advancing the rule of law in China. The rule of law has played a greater role in consolidating the foundation for development, ensuring stable expectations, and delivering long-term benefits, Tang said.
The world today is experiencing combined impact of profound changes and a pandemic, both unseen in a century, with a significant increase in instability and uncertainty. Tang stressed that China will firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, follow the global governance vision that emphasizes extensive consultation, joint contributions and shared benefits, and guide reforms of the global governance system with the principles of fairness and justice.
To this end, he suggested further strengthening international cooperation on the rule of law, further improving international economic and trade rules, and continuing to deepen legal service cooperation to provide legal support for political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges, so as to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind with the rule of law.
