MOJ launches pilot program for building foreign-related legal service platforms

On Sept 10, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) held a meeting on the pilot program for developing foreign-related legal service platforms, officially launching the pilot work. Vice ministers of justice Hu Weilie and Li Mingzheng attended the meeting.

The meeting stressed that foreign-related legal services are an important component of foreign-related rule of law. Building a foreign-related legal service system that integrates online and offline services and connects domestic and overseas resources is crucial to supporting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and high-level opening-up, and to better safeguarding the country's overseas interests.

The meeting urged efforts to enhance the country's overall capacity in foreign-related legal services and accelerate the pilot development of foreign-related legal service platforms. It also emphasized the need to coordinate relevant regions in leveraging high-quality resources from local foreign-related legal service platforms.

Based on existing foundations and in response to practical needs, comprehensive legal service platforms will be piloted in key Belt and Road partner countries to build a cross-border legal service network. This will help foster an integrated framework for foreign-related legal services featuring shared domestic and overseas resources, two-way information exchange, and business collaboration.

The meeting called for coordinating resources to create synergy for advancing the pilot program, adhering to a demand-oriented and pragmatic approach to maximize the role of foreign-related legal service platforms, and pursuing steady, orderly progress while tightening oversight to deliver tangible outcomes from the pilot work.

Leading officials from relevant institutions directly under the MOJ and provincial-level judicial administrative organs participated in the meeting. Representatives from five provincial-level judicial administrative organs included in the first batch of the pilot program delivered speeches.
