In a concerted effort to help businesses navigate the complexities of the global market, Sichuan province recently hosted a themed event in Yibin on providing foreign-related legal services to green trade enterprises going global. The event, jointly organized by the provincial commerce and justice departments, aimed to support enterprises’ safe overseas expansion.

At the event, university law professors, professional lawyers, and customs officers were invited to deliver three thematic lectures. The lectures covered risk clause design and payment dispute prevention in foreign-related sales contracts, the application of rules of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and free trade agreements and the implementation of tariff reductions and exemptions, and international green trade rules and responses to trade barriers. They aimed to help enterprises address challenges in cross-border operations, export compliance, and market access by providing practical and actionable solutions.

During the event, three specialized teams of foreign-related legal service professionals — composed of provincial and municipal legal experts and core professionals from related departments — were established to conduct legal risk assessments and provide on-site services for local enterprises. These teams engaged directly with businesses to address their international legal concerns, provide one-on-one guidance to resolve foreign-related legal issues, interpret foreign trade policies, and offer targeted solutions to compliance and overseas investment challenges.

The event also unveiled the Manual on Legal Compliance for Enterprises' Green Trade Global Expansion. Practical guides such as Country-specific Legal Response Guides, Handbook of Foreign-related Legal Services, and Selected Outstanding Foreign-related Legal Service Cases of Sichuan Province 2026 were distributed free of charge to enterprises. These documents helped enterprises accurately identify legal risks throughout the entire overseas business chain and master compliance response approaches.

In addition, various outreach activities on foreign-related legal affairs, policy interpretation, and risk alerts have been carried out through online platforms such as WeChat to strengthen businesses' capacity to prevent and control foreign-related legal risks.

Looking ahead, the Justice Department of Sichuan will maintain a sharp focus on evolving international green trade rules and barriers. It is committed to catering to the development needs of foreign trade enterprises by coordinating a wide range of legal service resources and delivering targeted, pragmatic, and effective legal services. The department will continue to improve the law-based business environment to support local enterprises going global.
