Gansu directs public legal service hotline at poverty relief

Aimed at ramping up legal support for its poverty alleviation effort, the northwestern province of Gansu recently opened a dedicated section on its 12348 public legal service hotline to specifically address legal issues for its impoverished population.

With the section, the province's registered impoverished households are able to consult professionals about a wide range of legal issues including land contracting, family disputes, protection of the vulnerable, payment of wages in arrears, work-related injuries and even traffic accidents.

Working 24 hours a day, the section is available for free within the province through both fixed-line and cell phones.
