The law-based governance commission of North China's Shanxi province has unveiled a number of legal service projects targeting major public concerns.

It has set a target for public legal service centers and stations in the province's 117 county-level areas and 1,410 township-level areas to offer free legal consulting at least 300,000 times and provide free services for special groups in at least 10,000 civil and criminal cases this year.

The commission urges cutting red tape in handling people's applications for legal services and combining related procedures into one procedure for each application.

It also plans to draw on 12355, the dedicated psychological counseling and legal aid hotline for juveniles, and new media platforms to enhance the protection of minors' rights and interests. A volunteer team will be set up to oversee the work.

Campaigns will also be launched to resolve medical service-related disputes, safeguard migrant workers' rights and raise people's legal awareness, according to the commission.
