Xiong made the remarks while attending the China Arbitration Summit 2021 and the Second Belt and Road Arbitration Institutions Forum held in Beijing on Sept 14.

The event was jointly hosted by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and the All China Lawyers Association. The Cooperation Mechanism of the Beijing Joint Declaration of the Belt and Road Arbitration Institutions was launched during the event.

In his speech, Xiong called for efforts to continue improving China's arbitration industry, raise its credibility, build world-leading arbitration institutions, and provide better foreign-related legal support and services.

The Chinese government has attached great importance to communication and cooperation between the Chinese and foreign arbitration communities in recent years, and fervently supported renowned overseas arbitration institutions in establishing branch offices in free trade zones in Beijing and Shanghai, according to Xiong.

He stressed that arbitration is an important way to improve China's business environment and make the Belt and Road more open, inclusive and mutually beneficial.

He emphasized the need to continue building an international commercial arbitration hub as part of the effort to make China a new international arbitration destination in the world.

He also called for efforts to cultivate a high-quality arbitration talent team and deepen international communication on arbitration.
