Ministry of Justice outlines development of judicial administration during 14th Five-Year Plan period

The Ministry of Justice recently published an outline for the development of China's judicial administration during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period. 

The outline specifies the main goals of China's judicial administrative work over the next five years and its long-range objectives through the year 2035. 

According to the outline, there are seven main goals for China's judicial administration to achieve in the next five years, including fully performing the duties of the Office of the Commission for Overall Law-based Governance of the CPC Central Committee, bringing China's administrative legislation to a new level, deepening law-based administration, comprehensively improving criminal punishment enforcement and compulsory isolated drug rehabilitation, building a full-fledged public legal service system, greatly enhancing the capability to provide support, strengthening Party building, and cultivating a high-quality and professional judicial administration team. 

Focusing on these goals, the outline lays out nine major measures, including strengthening political building, promoting overall law-based governance in a coordinated manner, comprehensively improving administrative legislation, promoting law-based administration and construction of a law-based government, coordinating development and safety by improving such work as prison administration, community correction and judicial administrative drug rehabilitation, strengthening legal publicity and law-based social governance, building a full-fledged public legal service system, promoting reform and innovation in such areas as supervision of law enforcement and judicial activities and application of smart technologies, and cultivating high-quality and professional judicial administrators.
