The 2021 Symposium on Forensic Theory and Practice was held in Shanghai on Oct 14.

Jointly hosted by the Academy of Forensic Science (AFS), a key forensic medicine laboratory in Shanghai and a key forensic science laboratory under the Ministry of Justice, the symposium drew nearly 3,500 attendees, including foreign experts from such countries as Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, Poland and Australia.

At the symposium, attendees focused their discussion on a range of hot topics in the field, such as COVID-19 and forensic science, voice imitation and identification technology, drunk driving testing, and the standardization of forensic services from a global perspective.

Serving as an important platform for forensic experts from around the world to exchange ideas, the symposium has become an iconic event held by China's forensic service society, according to Wu Hejian, president of the symposium and the AFS.
