Vice-minister of justice urges high-quality legal support for international economic and trade exchanges

Vice-Minister of Justice Xiong Xuanguo has called for high-quality, efficient and professional legal services and support for international economic and trade exchanges. 

Xiong made the remarks while delivering a speech via video link at the third Shanghai International Arbitration Forum held in Shanghai on Nov 8. 

He pointed out that the forum, which focused on the profound changes in the global economic landscape during the COVID-19 pandemic, is of great significance for international arbitration cooperation and the improvement of the system for global economic governance. 

He stressed the need to enhance the role of arbitration in serving high-level opening-up and participating in global economic governance, cultivate world-leading arbitration institutions, build a hub for international arbitration cooperation, and expedite the construction of arbitration destinations with global influence. 

Nearly 150 representatives of arbitration organizations and institutions from over 10 countries and regions, as well as arbitration experts, attended the forum. 

The forum was held alongside the 4th China International Import Expo, which was also held in Shanghai, from Nov 5 to 10.
