Shanghai upgrades local legislation database

(en.moj.gov.cn)| Updated: 2022-01-26

An upgraded version of Shanghai's local legislation database was recently launched by the law-based governance office of the city's Party committee.

The new version was presented on Jan 17 at a press conference marking the one-year anniversary of the operation of the database.

Since its launch on Jan 20, 2021, the database has been visited by the public, including foreigners residing in Shanghai, over 2.8 million times.

At present, the database includes 1,100 pieces of local legislation including 263 local bylaws, 339 government regulations and 498 regulatory administrative documents, more than 500 of which were updated over the past year.

Compared with the previous version, the new version features a more powerful search engine, more diverse legislation, and connection with the national law and regulation database.

Apart from English translation, the new version provides Japanese translation of some commonly-used local bylaws, with German translation also in the works.

It also contains video demonstration and a speech retrieval function to facilitate the use by the special groups.
