China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area launches legal service center

A ceremony marking the official launch of the legal service center of the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area (Suzhou FTZ area) was held on April 11.

The center has attracted more than 30 institutions, including 12 government and judicial institutions, such as the Suzhou International Commercial Tribunal, the Singapore International Arbitration Center Suzhou (Arbitration) Working Group, the Singapore International Mediation Center Suzhou (Mediation) Working Group, and the public legal service center of the Suzhou FTZ area.

Nine private legal service providers, seven associations in the industry, as well as research institutions at universities also set up offices at the center.

At the ceremony, the organizations were awarded their certificates. The East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) signed an agreement of intent for strategic cooperation with the justice department of the Suzhou Industrial Park. They will work together to establish the Suzhou branch of the foreign law ascertainment research center of the ECUPL. The center will utilize the resources of Chinese and foreign legal experts and scholars to provide high-quality foreign law ascertainment services.

The Suzhou Industrial Park has formulated a construction plan for the Suzhou FTZ area legal center to create a high-level, market-oriented, legal and international business environment, and started the construction of the center at the beginning of 2021.
