National training program for foreign-related IPR lawyers held in Beijing

The first national training program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of foreign-related intellectual property rights (IPR) lawyers was held in Beijing from Oct 9 to 12. 

The opening of the program, co-organized by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), was addressed Wang Zhenjiang, vice-minister of justice, and Liao Tao, deputy commissioner of the CNIPA.

Wang said lawyers play a crucial role as a highly qualified force in advancing overall law-based governance and promoting Chinese modernization. He said he hoped that foreign-related IPR lawyers would thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, facilitating enterprises in using the rule of law and rules to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and providing high-quality legal services for the building of a strong IPR power.

Liao noted that foreign-related IPR lawyers are urgently needed as high-end professionals. He encouraged them to actively participate in foreign-related IPR legislative consultations, policy recommendations, overseas rights protection, and the transformation and application of intellectual property, thereby serving as leading figures in the field.

The training program featured lectures by experts from departments engaged in the practice of law and universities, with almost 100 foreign-related IPR lawyers in attendance.
