Minister of justice meets with Malaysia’s minister for law and institutional reform

China's Minister of Justice He Rong met with a delegation led by Azalina Othman Said, minister in Malaysian Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), in Beijing on Nov 18.

China's Minister of Justice He Rong and Azalina Othman Said, minister in Malaysian Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), sign a letter of intent on cooperation.

He Rong briefed the delegation on the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the progress the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has made in serving Chinese modernization based on its functions.

Referencing the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, she said China's MOJ is willing to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, further expand cooperation channels in the legal and judicial fields, and enhance exchanges in international commercial arbitration, the application of artificial intelligence in the rule of law, and legislation related to the digital economy.

She emphasized the importance of deepening exchanges and cooperation in government legislation, legal services, and the application of information technology in the rule of law, aiming to yield more concrete results in the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, and achieve their respective development goals.

Azalina lauded China's achievements in promoting overall law-based governance, and expressed a willingness to further deepen pragmatic cooperation between both sides, and enhance mutual learning in the development of the rule of law, so as to consolidate and advance friendly relations between the two countries.

After the meeting, the two sides signed a letter of intent on cooperation between China's MOJ and the Legal Affairs Division of Malaysian Prime Minister's Department.
