Beijing has achieved full coverage of legally savvy villagers - individuals trained to provide basic legal knowledge and assistance in rural communities - according to the capital's justice bureau.

To date, over 12,000 villagers have been legally trained, averaging 3.32 per administrative village. Since 2022, these legally savvy villagers have participated in over 26,000 themed legal education activities, mediated 18,000 disputes, and assisted in the investigation of 130,000 potential conflicts, effectively bridging the gap in legal education and public legal services.

To enhance their effectiveness, Beijing has held two consecutive citywide demonstration training sessions for legally savvy villagers, with more than 300 attending in person and 6,000 attending online. It has also promoted exemplary figures among the legally savvy villagers, and organized activities like the "Our Legal Stories" competition to showcase their contributions to Beijing's development.

According to the head of law popularization and law-based governance division of the city's justice bureau, Beijing plans to enhance the cultivation of legally savvy villagers by inviting legal experts, renowned lawyers, judges, prosecutors, administrative law enforcement officials and mediators to participate in training programs. The city aims to develop high-quality resource pools with high-caliber teaching resources, premium courses and talents, at both the municipal and district levels, so as to fully leverage Beijing's legal resources.
