Xiong Xuanguo, vice-minister of justice, holds talks with a delegation of the DOJ of Hong Kong on July 18.

Xiong welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

He stressed that the Ministry has actively implemented the "one country, two systems" policy and the central government's working plan on the HKSAR in accordance with the requirements of the central government and the development outline of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

A series of surveys has been conducted to draft policies on expanded legal services available for Hong Kong.

Xiong said that measures listed in the agreement signed by the Ministry of Justice and the DOJ of Hong Kong in January this year for deepening cooperation in legal services are being put into practice and have achieved preliminary results.

He believes that more Hong Kong legal practitioners will benefit from deepening of the communication and cooperation in legal services between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and the promotion of opening up the Greater Bay Area's legal services to the SAR.

Xiong hopes that legal circles of Hong Kong will give full play to its advantages and contribute to construction of the national rule of law, especially in foreign-related legal services.

Cheng expressed her appreciation for the Ministry of Justice's strong support of administration according to law by the SAR government, especially by the DOJ.

The DOJ supports the Hong Kong legal community's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and the national strategy of Greater Bay Area construction with its advantages in the fields of mediation and arbitration.

She hopes the central government's opening of the legal service market to Hong Kong will bring more benefits to the region's legal practitioners so as to generate more positive energy in Hong Kong society and contribute to the SAR's long-term prosperity and stability.
