At the grassroots level of China's judicial administrative system, judicial stations across the country have been playing an indispensable role in maintaining social stability and harmony.

One year since the first national work conference on judicial stations held by the Ministry of Justice last September, judicial stations have instructed grassroots-level people's mediation committees in mediating over 7.3 million disputes, directly mediated about 550,000 complicated disputes, and represented or assisted grassroots-level people's governments in solving 740,000 disputes.

In addition to the dispute mediation, judicial stations have launched 1.76 million legal publicity campaigns nationwide, set up 37,000 township-level public legal service stations, presented local governments with 237,000 legal proposals, and reviewed the compliance of more than 200,000 regulatory documents during the period.

Meanwhile, judicial authorities at higher levels have taken measures to standardize the regulation of judicial stations, among which was the gradual unification of the logos of judicial stations nationwide.

Financial support for the judicial stations have also been enhanced, with 33,000 judicial offices, or 82.1 percent of the total, being included in the county-level government budget and nearly 23,000, or 56 percent, enjoying transfer payments in general public budget from central government to judicial system.

As a result, 9,424 judicial stations across the country have been built, extended or renovated since last September.

Currently, there are 40,513 judicial stations in China, which have roughly covered every town and street community of the country. The total number of employees working for this grassroots judicial system has reached about 128,000.
