The Ministry of Justice attached great importance to the application of smart technology in recent years as it built a big data-based smart platform and system, established an emergency command system for judicial administration, substantially improved its ability to ensure cybersecurity, and formed up a general framework of digital rule of law coupled with smart justice.

With the help of nearly one million surveillance cameras across China's judicial administrative system, the ministry's emergency command platform is able to directly connect to nearly 4,000 judicial administrative organs nationwide, meaning that a multi-tier integrated command system starts to take shape.

At present, 20 sub-systems, including those for notaries, lawyers and legal aid, are running on the ministry's cloud platform which also hosts data from across the country. As a result, the mode of gathering all data and sharing resources has been applied nationwide.

Internet-based public legal services have become a major way to fulfill the ministry's commitment to justice for the people while physical, hotline-based and online service platforms have also been further consolidated.

Data show that 12348.gov.cn, China's public legal service portal, has garnered up to 1.4 billion visits and provided roughly 10 million people with legal advice since its launch, all while maintaining a user satisfaction rate of above 95 percent.
