Over 130,000 lawyers in China are CPC members: association

BEIJING -- More than 130,000 practicing lawyers in China are members of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and they have played exemplary roles in major events in the country such as the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, the All China Lawyers Association said on June 30.

Over 10,000 Party organizations have been established in China's law firms and relevant professional associations, the association said.

It added that lawyers who are Party members have played notable roles in major emergencies and in the building of a society based on the rule of law, citing their contributions in the country's fight against COVID-19.

During the epidemic, the lawyers have been providing pro bono legal services, helping enterprises in business resumption and supporting local communities in epidemic prevention, the association said.

By the end of 2019, China had more than 470,000 lawyers.
