Beijing FTZ welcomes overseas arbitration institutions

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice formulated the "Administrative Measures for Registration of Business Offices Established by Overseas Arbitration Institutions in China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone" (the "Administrative Measures"), with an aim to implement the Official Reply of the State Council Concerning the Plan for Building an Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector Through the Integrated Pilot Program for Further Opening up Beijing's Service Sector and the Circular of the State Council on Printing and Issuing the Overall Plan for Beijing, Hunan and Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zones and the Regional Plan for Expansion of Zhejiang Pilot Free Trade Zone, to actively promote the development of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, and to create a friendly, convenient, standardized and transparent institutional environment for the overseas arbitration institutions to establish business offices in Beijing. 

The Administrative Measures clearly specify the business scope of overseas arbitration institutions, the conditions and procedures for establishing business office, the purpose of encouraging arbitration-related exchanges and cooperation, and other regulating requirements. 

The Administrative Measures will take effect as of January 1, 2021.
