The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and the Shanghai-based East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) signed a framework agreement on jointly building a study base for synergic innovations of public legal services and digital governance at a symposium held on Jan 29.

Vice-Minister of Justice Xiong Xuanguo and Guo Weilu, secretary of the ECUPL's Party committee, attended the event via video link and gave speeches.

In his speech, Xiong pointed out that the base will be of great significance to the improvement of China's public legal service system. He called for maximizing the base's fundamental and guiding roles and carrying out theoretical, practical and policy studies at a deeper level.

Guo noted in his speech that the ECUPL has made the building of a public legal service system one of its new disciplines and founded China's first institute in this field. He said he expects deeper involvement of the university in the work of judicial administrative organs so as to contribute to the building of the public legal service system,
