Jilin judicial administration makes legal services more convenient

The judicial department of Northeast China's Jilin province has taken a variety of measures to ensure convenient and high-quality legal services for the public.

The department mobilized all public legal service centers at the city and county levels, law firms and primary-level legal service stations to provide pro bono legal consulting to targeted groups, including people with disabilities, migrant workers, the elderly, women and minors.

To meet the legal service needs of private enterprises, it organized law firms to conduct free door-to-door legal risk reviews for enterprises. Law firms also drew on platforms like WeChat to provide companies with legal advice for free, and reduce or delay the charging of litigation service fees for companies in financial distress.

As a result of the province's efforts to improve its notarial services, residents in Jilin can now apply for the notarization of their academic degrees, diplomas and driver's licenses – at any public notary office in the province without providing original copies of these documents.

Groups with mobility difficulties, like the elderly, the sick, people with disabilities and pregnant women, now also enjoy door-to-door judicial authentication services wherever they are.

Disadvantaged groups, like minors, people with disabilities and those who live on basic living allowances, are now the key targets of legal aid in the province. In addition, Jilin can now provide legal aid services in every criminal case involving these groups.

The department also strengthened its anti-drug efforts by launching a massive publicity campaign, with numerous lectures on the harm of narcotics being held in communities, schools and enterprises, as well as through TV and radio programs.

With all these efforts to streamline both its online and offline public legal services, the department has further enhanced people's senses of gain, happiness and safety.
