The China National Intellectual Property Administration and Ministry of Justice have jointly issued guidelines on strengthening the role of mediation in the resolution of disputes surrounding intellectual property rights (IPR).

According to the guidelines, mediation is expected to cover all key areas and industries where IPR-related disputes are common and become a comprehensive system composed of people's, administrative, industry-specific and judicial mediation by 2025.

The guideline calls for stronger ties between mediation organizations and such authorities as administrative law enforcement agencies, judicial organs and arbitration institutions.

It also requests adequate fiscal support and more publicity for mediation-based IPR-related dispute resolution.
