The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Legal Services Committee Xi'an Center has strongly facilitated the development of foreign-related legal services in western China, since since it was unveiled at the Belt and Road Demonstration Zone for International Commercial Legal Services in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province on Dec 1, 2020.

Over the past year, the center, jointly organized by the Ministry of Justice and the Shaanxi provincial government, has made efforts to advance innovation of policies, institutions and mechanisms and improve the development of foreign-related legal services, striving to establish an international commercial legal service system with comprehensive functions covering the entire chain in the context of co-building of the Belt and Road.

The center is dedicated to providing targeted services for the Belt and Road construction and the rule of law cooperation among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members.

By working together with local law schools, enterprises, and legal service institutions, the center has set up a legal service collaboration and innovation base, the first of its kind in China, providing cross-border freight transportation-related legal services for the SCO member countries and the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

In the past year, the center has also held a series of legal publicity activities with strong influence, such as the round-table conference of the BRI International Commercial & Legal Cooperation Forum and a forum on enhancing innovation of the arbitration system and business environment construction.

Furthermore, a sub-forum on legal services was held for the first time at the 2021 Euro Asia Economic Forum, which further improve the influence of the demonstration zone.
