China issues notice to step up arbitration talent cultivation

China will establish a cultivation system for foreign-related arbitration talents that compatible with the internationally-accepted arbitration system by 2025, according to a newly released notice.

The notice, jointly released by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration of the State Council, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, as well as China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, aims to strengthen the talent pool for foreign-related arbitration.

The notice specifies the guiding thoughts for foreign-related arbitration talents cultivation, saying that China will innovate the cultivation mechanism and optimize the path to cultivate talents in this field, so as to provide talent and intellectual support for the country's rule of law. The country will step up efforts to foster a large number of Chinese foreign-related arbitration talents with international vision and knowledge of international rules, who can provide professional services in the cross-border legal service market.  

By making use of existing resources in foreign-related arbitration, the notice stipulates key measures to promote cultivation of talents such as building of an expert committee, establishing a special training base and forming a pool of high-end talents in foreign-related arbitration.

By 2025, China will select 1,000 high-caliber leading talents in the foreign related arbitration, train 1,000 professional advanced talents, and nurture a reserve of 1,000 young talents, according to the notice.
