BRILA Hangzhou center founded

A ceremony marking the founding of Hangzhou center of the Belt and Road Initiative Lawyers Association (BRILA) was held on July 27 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

Vice-Minister of Justice Xiong Xuanguo sent a congratulatory letter to the event.

Xiong pointed out that, by the beginning of 2022, China has signed over 200 cooperative agreements under the Belt and Road Initiative with over 180 countries and international organizations. The BRI has become a key part of global governance, playing a significant role in promoting global development and prosperity.

Launched by the All China Lawyers Association, the BRILA is an international lawyer organization that was registered in China. Its objective is to support Belt and Road construction with high-quality and efficient legal services, Xiong said, adding that the Hangzhou center is the fifth representative office set up in China, and it will be of great importance for Zhejiang in integrating deeply into the Belt and Road construction, striving to foster a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment, as well as ensuing the high-quality economic development.

He said he hopes lawyers will actively make use of the BRILA to promote global governance innovation, strive to build a more just and equitable international order so as to make contributions to the construction of civilization of rule of law around the world.
