CIETAC launches Global Arbitrators Initiative

The Global Arbitrators Initiative was launched by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) at the China Arbitration Summit and the Second CIETAC Global Arbitrators Forum that held on Sept 6, in Beijing.

The initiative calls for efforts to further enhance communication and integration on the rule of law across the globe, transcending legal differences for unity and cooperation to jointly promote communication and the application of commercial arbitration on a wide scale.

The initiative requires international arbitrators to adhere to independence and equity and abide by honesty and uprightness, protecting clients' legitimate rights equally. The international arbitrators are asked respect the concepts of rule of law of different laws to promote the formulation of international rules that are fair and reasonable.

The initiative proposes to strive to unite the power of global youth, promote the convergence of civilizations and cultural integration, build a cross-regional and cross-disciplinary international arbitration communication platform for the youth among countries, and help youth realize their dreams, pursue excellence and become a driving force for sustainable development.

Focusing on equity and efficiency, the initiative calls for efforts to facilitate an international dispute resolution mechanism for commercial affairs where arbitration, mediation and litigation will be well coordinated and complement with each other, so as to contribute wisdom and solutions for a better global business environment.

To date, the CIETAC, one of the first and representative arbitration institutions in China, has appointed 1,897 arbitrators across 144 countries and regions, including 112 countries and regions under the Belt and Road cooperation, achieving an international layout of arbitrators.
