The 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination, organized by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), was successfully held in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the city of Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province, on May 27.

More than 300 lawyers from Hong Kong and Macao registered and participated in the exam.

The pilot program for Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to practice in the Greater Bay Area is a great deployment made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It is of significant importance in facilitating lawyers from Hong Kong and Macao in contributing to the GBA's construction and integrating into the country's overall development.

The MOJ has coordinated efforts of all relevant parties in their preparations, such as exam registration, legal knowledge training, and organization, and also dispatched inspection teams to provide guidance and coordination.

The Department of Justice of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, Guangdong Department of Justice, and relevant authorities of Zhuhai have collaborated to arrange exam venues in the two locations, ensure strict examination management and order, as well as to improve exam services and provide security and guarantees.

The MOJ has already held GBA Legal Professional Examinations, twice in 2021 and in 2022, with over 1,200 lawyers from Hong Kong and Macao participating in.

Among them, more than 270 Hong Kong and Macao lawyers, including Hong Kong barristers, have obtained Lawyer's License (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area). Several influential lawyers from legal circles of Hong Kong and Macao, have practiced in law firms and engaged in relevant legal service activities in the mainland, yielding good results.
