On April 18, Vice-Minister of Justice Wang Zhenjiang meets with a delegation led by Chan Chak-ming, president of the Law Society of Hong Kong, in Beijing.

They had an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual concern, including the development of the legal profession in the mainland and Hong Kong.

Wang emphasized that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has thoroughly studied and implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Second Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

Focusing on serving and safeguarding the overall work of the Party and the country through the rule of law, the MOJ has continuously advanced the legal practice of "one country, two systems", steadily promoted the opening-up of legal services to Hong Kong, supported Hong Kong lawyers in integrating into the overall situation of national development, deepened exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong's judicial and legal circles, and provided robust legal guarantees for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Chan outlined the exchange activities conducted by the Law Society of Hong Kong and expressed gratitude for the MOJ's support in facilitating the participation of Hong Kong lawyers in the country's law-based governance. He expressed his expectation to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
