From April 18 to 21, China's Minister of Justice He Rong led a delegation to visit Vietnam upon invitation. During her stay in Vietnam, He Rong paid an official call to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and held talks respectively with To Lam, Vietnamese minister of public security, Phan Dinh Trac, chairman of the Commission for Internal Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, and Vietnamese Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long. They reached broad consensus on deepening exchanges and cooperation in areas of law and justice and achieved practical outcomes.

The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) of China signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and an agreement with the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice on holding the first border meeting between the two sides' judicial administrative departments.

During her visit, she delivered a special lecture on Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and China's achievements in promoting the rule of law in the new era.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo also attended the above-mentioned activities.

During her meeting with Le Thanh Long, He Rong said that the announcement made by the top leaders of the two countries last December on building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future with strategic significance has charted a new chapter in bilateral relations. The important consensuses reached by the top leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the CPV have indicated the direction for deepening exchanges and cooperation in the legal field, she said.

The MOJ of China is willing to work with the Vietnamese side to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both parties, deepen pragmatic cooperation on legislation, legal services, mediation and judicial assistance, and establish a regular mechanism for border meetings between judicial administrative departments of China and Vietnam in a bid to provide strong legal guarantees for promoting regional stability, economic development, and the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, she added.

Le Thanh Long spoke highly of China's remarkable achievements in promoting the rule of law, and said that the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice is ready to further strengthen cooperation with its Chinese counterpart in line with the direction indicated by the top leaders of both parties so as to serve the modernization of both countries.

Those attending the lecture included representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice, the Office of the CPV Central Committee, the Commission for Internal Affairs and the Inspection Commission of the CPV Central Committee, the Law Committee and the Committee of Judicial Affairs of Vietnamese National Assembly, the Government Office of Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Commission for External Relations of the CPV Central Committee, Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as experts and scholars from law schools.
