The launch of the inaugural national legal publicity campaign for university students and Chongqing municipality's "Constitution Publicity Week" took place at Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Southwest China's Chongqing on Dec 2. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), the National Office of Law Popularization and the Chongqing municipal government.
Vice-Minister of Justice Hu Weilie and Vice-Mayor of Chongqing Zhang Anjiang addressed the ceremony.

It was emphasized at the ceremony that the legal publicity campaign should focus on thoroughly studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and upholding a holistic approach to national security. Highlighting the importance of promoting an in-depth understanding and implementation of the Constitution, the campaign underscores the need to fully leverage the positive role of university students in legal publicity and education, and enhance targeted effectiveness through innovative methods.
The campaign aims to guide students to become faithful advocates, practitioners and defenders of socialist rule of law, and to help foster an optimized social atmosphere of respecting, studying, following and using the law through their concrete actions, so as to contribute their youthful energy to further deepening reforms comprehensively and advancing Chinese modernization.
During the ceremony, leading officials from provincial-level justice departments and universities delivered speeches, while university student representatives read out the proposal for the campaign.
Heads of relevant departments of the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the CYLC also attended the ceremony. In addition, the Chongqing government announced its arrangements for the Constitution Publicity Week.

Following the ceremony, a symposium was held to discuss how to better advance the legal publicity campaign. Representatives from eight universities forming the initial student legal publicity groups – China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Nanjing Normal University, Fuzhou University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Sichuan University, and Northwest University of Political Science and Law – engaged in in-depth exchanges on advancing the campaign at the symposium.
