The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) held a national training session on foreign-related arbitration at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing on Dec 2. Vice-Minister of Justice Li Mingzheng addressed the opening ceremony.

The MOJ has been thoroughly studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and the important instructions made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on related work.
Efforts have been made by the MOJ to actively promote the high-quality development of foreign-related arbitration work, advance the construction of international commercial arbitration centers, foster the development of world-class international arbitration institutions, and strengthen the cultivation of foreign-related arbitration talents, in a bid to enhance the country's capacity for resolving international commercial disputes, and provide high-quality, efficient and professional legal services for international economic and trade exchanges.
The importance of foreign-related arbitration work and the need to enhance the sense of responsibility and mission in improving work in this field were emphasized at the training session. It called for the thorough implementation of the central government's arrangements on cultivating foreign-related legal talents and the initiative jointly released by the MOJ, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) regarding the establishment of a system for the cultivation of foreign-related arbitration talents.
The initiative aims to cultivate a team of foreign-related arbitration professionals with a global vision, good knowledge of international rules, and expertise in providing specialized services in the cross-border legal service market.
Jiang Zeting, secretary of the CPC CUPL Committee, and Ma Huaide, president of the CUPL, as well as heads of relevant departments of the MOJ, the SASAC, the ACFIC, the CCPIT and the All China Lawyers Association, also attended the opening ceremony. A total of 130 people from arbitration institutions, corporate legal departments, law firms, and universities across the country took part in the training.
