The justice ministries of China and Vietnam held a seminar on judicial appraisal management via video link on Dec 18, with China's Vice-Minister of Justice Li Mingzheng and Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Justice Mai Luong Khoi both addressing the opening ceremony.

Representatives from both countries said that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of their respective Communist parties, China-Vietnam relations have maintained a positive development momentum. In recent years, the justice ministries of the two countries have engaged in frequent exchanges, including the signing of memoranda of understanding and annual cooperation plans. These exchanges have yielded fruitful and pragmatic results, providing legal support for the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future with strategic significance.

Li said China's Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has been thoroughly studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, and continuously deepened the reform in the judicial appraisal management system, including institutional improvements and strengthened supervision.

China's MOJ has consistently enhanced the quality and credibility of judicial appraisal, and fully leveraged the functions of the judicial appraisal system, in a bid to provide high-quality and efficient judicial appraisal services to safeguard people's legitimate rights and interests and promote social fairness and justice, Li noted.

During the seminar, the Chinese and Vietnamese representatives had fruitful discussions on three main topics: the establishment, admission and registration conditions and management models of judicial appraisal institutions; the admission and registration conditions and practice requirements for judicial appraisers; and the general procedural requirements for judicial appraisal practices.
