Minister of justice visits UAE, Ethiopia

Minister of Justice He Rong led a Chinese delegation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ethiopia from Feb 9 to 14.

During the visit, He Rong engaged in in-depth discussions with legal and judicial professionals from both countries on deepening exchanges and cooperation. The Chinese delegation conducted surveys on foreign-related legal services at local Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas branches of Chinese law firms.

During her visit to the UAE, He Rong attended the opening ceremony of the World Governments Summit 2025, and addressed the Justice Ministers' Roundtable themed on "The Role of Digital Justice in Designing a Better Future for Societies". She also met with Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, the UAE minister of justice.

During her visit to Ethiopia, He Rong held talks with Tewodros Meheret Kebede, president of the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia, and Hanna Arayaselassie, minister of justice of Ethiopia.

The Ministry of Justice of China subsequently signed memorandums of understanding with its UAE and Ethiopian counterparts on strengthening legal exchanges and cooperation.

The legal and judicial circles of the UAE and Ethiopia lauded the achievements China has made in recent years in promoting the rule of law under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. They expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation with China in the rule of law, in a bid to provide legal support for advancing the sustained development of bilateral relations with China.

Zhang Yiming, Chinese ambassador to the UAE, Ou Boqian, Chinese consul-general in Dubai, and Chen Hai, Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia, accompanied the delegation in related activities.
