Minister of justice visits Xiamen University

Minister of Justice He Rong conducted a survey at Xiamen University in East China's Fujian province on March 31, where she gained insights into the university's development in legal education, legal theoretical research, and the cultivation of foreign-related legal professionals.

He Rong affirmed the achievements made by the university in advancing foreign-related legal studies and talent development under the strong support of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the provincial government. She emphasized the need to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and the Opinions on Strengthening Legal Education and Legal Theory Research in the New Era, and further strengthen legal education, in a bid to guide both law faculty and students to reinforce their confidence in the rule of law and steadfastly adhere to the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics.

The minister urged the university to leverage its disciplinary strengths, strengthen research in areas such as foreign investment, maritime commerce, and legal systems of countries in key regions, as well as deepen research on cutting-edge issues in foreign-related legal theory and practice and materialize outcomes thereof.

She called on relevant justice departments to coordinate resources and expertise from legal practice institutions, lawyers and arbitration agencies to further innovate mechanisms for cultivating foreign-related legal talents in partnership with Xiamen University.

He Rong noted that practice-oriented efforts should be accelerated to cultivate a group of high-caliber foreign-related legal professionals with firm political stances, high legal proficiency, good knowledge of international rules, and expertise in foreign-related legal practice, so as to provide robust talent support for the development of foreign-related rule of law.

Leading officials from the Political and Legal Commission of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, and the Justice Department of Fujian participated in the survey, while heads of Xiamen University provided briefings on relevant work.
