MOJ holds meeting to plan handling of NPC deputies' suggestions and CPPCC proposals

On April 10, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) held a meeting to coordinate the handling of suggestions and motions from deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and proposals from the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) for 2025.

The meeting reviewed the MOJ's efforts in the handling of suggestions and motions from NPC deputies and the proposals from members of CPPCC National Committee in 2024, and outlined plans for 2025. Vice-Minister of Justice Li Mingzheng addressed the meeting, with the heads of 22 departments within the ministry present.

The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining comprehensive, whole-process and cross-departmental coordination while enhancing direct interactions and collaborative research with law makers and political advisors, in a bid to build broader consensus and improve both precision and effectiveness in handling their proposals.

It was highlighted that the practical suggestions and valuable insights from submitted proposals should be integrated into the annual plan for promoting overall law-based governance and the key tasks of judicial administration.

The necessity of absorbing and implementing the suggestions and proposals was also underlined at the meeting. It is important to earnestly address the most pressing difficulties and concerns of the public through the efficient handling of each proposal, with an eye to resolving related issues and facilitating work in associated areas, meeting participants noted.

The meeting called for further practical improvements in the handling of suggestions from NPC deputies and CPPCC proposals through the implementation of the newly revised Law on Deputies to the NPC and to the Local People's Congresses at Various Levels. This will better support and guarantee NPC deputies and CPPCC members' law-based performance of their duties.
