The fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) opened in Haikou, South China's Hainan province, on April 13. In advance of the event, the Justice Department of Hainan formed a 50-member legal services team comprising lawyers, mediators, notaries and arbitrators, aiming to provide high-quality, efficient and comprehensive legal services for all participants.

The legal services team is divided into specialized groups covering lawyers, notaries, mediators, and arbitrators. The lawyer group consists of 38 foreign-related lawyers from renowned domestic and international law firms, with expertise in areas such as corporate commerce, intellectual property rights (IPR), international trade, and financial investment.

The mediation group comprises three mediators with specialized expertise in commercial certification and mediation. With their profound legal proficiency and extensive experience, the mediators provide commercial mediation services for participants to resolve disputes involving commercial contracts and IPR in line with advanced international commercial mediation concepts and rules.

Seven highly qualified notaries form the notary service group, offering exhibitors a full spectrum of services including IPR evidence preservation pertaining to trademarks, patents, and utility models, as well as patent certification and legal document translation verification.

For arbitration needs, two specialists from the Hainan Arbitration Center of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission form the arbitration group. Their expertise in both arbitration and international law has guaranteed the provision of high-quality and efficient legal services to the disputing parties.

To further expand access to legal services such as dispute mediation, IPR protection, and online consultation, the provincial justice department has updated the CICPE legal services online mini-program on WeChat, and established a dedicated legal service hotline on the 12348 hotline platform.

In addition, personnel from judicial bodies within Hainan, including the Haikou Maritime Court, the Hainan Free Trade Port Intellectual Property Court, the Hainan Free Trade Port First International Commercial Court of the Hainan First Intermediate People's Court, and the Hainan International Arbitration Court, have provided on-site judicial services throughout the event.
