Haikou, capital of Hainan province in South China, has launched a mediation center dedicated to addressing duty-free shopping disputes at the Haikou International Duty-Free Shopping Complex.

The center introduces a dual-channel service model that combines online and offline mediation platforms to deliver free and efficient mediation services for duty-free shopping disputes.

The center features a comprehensive mediator system consisting of part-time, specialist, and full-time professionals. Five frontline professionals from customer service and after-sales departments serve as part-time mediators after receiving professional training from the Justice Bureau of Haikou. For more complex and challenging cases, a specially invited mediator pool, which comprises civil and commercial affair experts, industry representatives, and professional lawyers, has been established to ensure high-level specialized support.
