Vice Minister of Justice Wu Zeng met with a delegation from the Law Society of Hong Kong, which is led by its President Roden Tong Man-lung, in Beijing on April 14.
The two sides held in-depth talks on topics of mutual concern, including supporting lawyers from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to actively participate in the country's rule of law development and advancing the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Wu briefed the delegation on this year's two sessions - annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee. She also outlined the efforts of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) in implementing the decisions and arrangements of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council to support rule of law development in the GBA.
Wu pledged the MOJ's support for Hong Kong's legal sector in leveraging its unique professional strengths, actively integrating into the country's overall development, and playing a greater role in areas such as professional exchanges and talent cultivation.
Tong noted that the Hong Kong legal profession will enhance its role in providing high-quality legal services to support the GBA's high-quality development.
