The Ministry of Justice, together with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), has launched the 2026 training program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of foreign-related intellectual property (IP) lawyers. This program is designed to fully implement the decisions and arrangements of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council concerning the country's efforts to build an IP powerhouse and strengthen the foreign-related rule of law.

The first session of the training program opened in Beijing on May 26. Vice Minister of Justice Li Mingzheng and CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Hu Wenhui attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Focusing on capability enhancement through practical training, the program aims to foster a team of foreign-related IP lawyers with a firm political stance, strong professional competence, sound knowledge of international rules and profound expertise in foreign-related legal practice. The training is expected to better support high-quality development and high-level opening-up.

Invited lecturers include experts from relevant central government departments, universities and legal institutions. They will deliver lectures on topics such as emerging industries and new business forms, standard essential patents, and rights protection in cross-border e-commerce.

The program also includes lawyer-enterprise dialogue sessions, providing a platform to facilitate interactive discussions on practical issues in foreign-related IP practice.

More than 500 lawyers will participate in the training across six sessions.
