Vice minister of justice attends CCPCJ 35th session

The 35th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice opened in Vienna on June 1. China's Vice Minister of Justice Wu Yanjun led a Chinese government delegation to attend the session and delivered a speech during the general debate.

Wu briefed participants on China's latest achievements in crime prevention and criminal justice under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. He elaborated on the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative.

He called on the international community to strengthen solidarity and collaboration in jointly advancing the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He reaffirmed China's firm commitment to multilateralism and its resolve to safeguard the  international system with the UN at its core and the international order underpinned by international law.

On the same day, Wu met with Monica Juma, executive director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He provided an overview of China's achievements in advancing the rule of law and exchanged views on deepening exchanges and cooperation between China's Ministry of Justice and the UNODC in the fields of crime prevention and criminal justice.

Li Song, China's permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, was present at the meeting.
