A foreign-related legal services networking event was recently held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, focusing on providing legal support for local enterprises expanding overseas.

As one of the themed events of the eighth Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade, the event featured contract signings, flag awarding, case sharing, product launch, and specialized lectures. It has built a full-chain legal services networking platform for Chongqing-based enterprises expanding overseas, helping foster a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment in the city.

Two major cooperation framework agreements were signed at the event. The first agreement, the Cooperation Framework Agreement on Talent Cultivation and Capacity Building of Legal Services for Chongqing Enterprises Going Global, seeks to integrate resources from government entities, industries, universities, research institutions, and businesses to develop a pool of foreign-related legal professionals who are proficient in law and foreign languages and skilled in practical foreign-related legal services.

The second document, the Cooperation Framework Agreement on Joint Development of Legal Services for Cross-border Intellectual Property Protection, focuses on cross-border intellectual property (IP) protection by building coordination mechanisms for information sharing, diversified dispute resolution and early risk warning to safeguard the innovative development of enterprises overseas.

A ceremony was also held to present a flag to a public interest legal service team. This team will provide legal assistance services to enterprises facing anti-dumping and anti-subsidy challenges.

Furthermore, 10 typical cases in foreign-related legal services were released at the event, spanning areas such as arbitration, legal counsel, notarization, commercial mediation, and IP patent navigation. These cases provide practical examples for enterprises to understand international rules, prevent cross-border risks, and safeguard their legitimate overseas rights and interests.

Meanwhile, five major foreign-related legal services products were also launched, including guidelines on international commercial arbitration in countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, environmental, social, and governance compliance manuals for enterprises engaging in international business, and practical guides on overseas IP protection. These products aim to offer practical references for enterprises in risk prevention and rights protection.

The event also featured the release of a directory of foreign-related law firms, notary institutions, arbitration organizations, and Chongqing's overseas IP dispute response guidance workstations, providing enterprises with convenient access to professional resources.

During the session of lectures and business talks, in-depth discussions and targeted exchanges were conducted concerning topics such as foreign-related trade and investment risks, IP dispute resolution, and compliance practices for enterprises' international expansion.

Many foreign-related enterprises and legal service providers engaged in one-on-one discussions and expressed their intention to leverage this event to further strengthen communication and cooperation, jointly promoting the steady and long-term development of Chongqing-based enterprises going global.
